Missouri Weather !!!

by Suzanne VanderFeen on 04/21/11

I have heard it said, "If you don't like the weather in Southeast Missouri, just wait a moment, it will change". This past week was a wonderful example of that quote. It was 82 degrees, less than 12 hours later it was 42 degrees!

What has concerned us more lately is  the large hail we got.

A few weeks ago, we  transplanted some Vignole starts with Little Cameron. Everytime I pick Cameron up from school, he rushes out to check on his new grape plants.

We watch the weather constantly. We keep hard, white buckets nearby to cover our grape, tomatoes, and other garden plants, when hail is predicted.

That being said,We are grateful for the beautiful changing seasons that Southeast Missouri offers us.

Good Gardening!

Thank you to all the merchants on "The Hill" in St.Louis Missouri, for taking the time to make all of our group on the Vines 2 Wines Bus feel so welcomed and special.

You are a blessed and gifted community.
We look forward to many more trips to "The Hill"!

May your lives and wine glasses always be more full than empty!

Sharing With Others

by Suzanne VanderFeen on 03/04/11

One of the main reasons Tom and I ventured into "Vines 2 Wines Excursions" was the opportunity to meet others who were as passionate about wine as we were. There are so many facets to wine, from growing the grapes to the preparation of food to enhance the meal's experience.

Children love grapes! They love to watch things grow! I love teaching the children in our lives about the grapes we grow. Each one of our grape vines are named after a child we know! Many of those children have since grown and we don't see them as much as we once did,but when we prune or harvest from that child's namesake vine, I whisper a prayer to our Heavenly Father asking God to continue to bless that child and their family.

If you are new to the wine experiance, I encourage you to attend a Tuesday night wine sampling at Primo Vino in Cape Girardeau. Its FREE and you can ease in with many others who are there to sample and learn about wine. The staff is pleasant and helpful. REMEMBER! Everyone began just like you. No question is dumb. Wine people are waiting to welcome you into their fold!
